By the way the lady wuz discharged maggot free last week for home care nursing. Thanks to the student nurses who carefully picked every single worm from her face.

Leavin KL again today will miss the bright city lights and lack of cow dung...
Caution: don't read further if you've not seen LotR: RotK

Gosh more departures from the actual feel and characterization of the story. Nearly fainted in the cinema. Too many to comment on, and hardly bother anymore. Instead will give you my envisagement of the story vs. the portrayal on film.

Scenes I'd have liked to see, or seen done differently
1) Confrontation between Gandalf and Saruman where Gandalf breaks Saruman's staff and casts him from the White Council. It'll probably be in the extended version
2) Confrontation between Gandalf and the Lord of the Nazgul at the gate of Minas Tirith after it is thrown down by Grond. It might be in the extended version
3) Confrontation between Eowyn and the Lord of the Nazgul. Eowyn, having realized she will lose everything she cares about on the battlefield and having had her love rejected by Aragorn, stands unafraid before the Witch-King, sword in hand, golden hair streaming in the wind, tall and beautiful yet cold as ice and hard as stone
4) The Witch-King, stabbed in the popliteal fossa by Merry, stumbles and bows before Eowyn, and she brings her sword down between his crown and cloak. At the death of the Witch-King a long sorrowful wail is lifted into the air, and fades slowly into nothing
5) The knights of Minas Tirith sweeping out of the city in force to join the Rohirrim on the battlefield. In the real story the attackers never manage to get through the broken gate to enter the city. The host of the Dead never come to Gondor and it is through the own efforts of Gondor's army, with aid from the Rohirrim, that Sauron's forces are defeated on the Pelennor. In the movie version one wonders why Minas Tirith is so significant to Sauron since it has no substantial army of its own and is obviously dependent on Rohan for its defence. The inclusion of the Dead in the battle of the Pelennor is SO deus ex machina. And the inrushing of luminous green figures into Minas Tirith to clean out the invaders looks incredibly like a detergent advertisement where oil and filth is washed clean away by nice lemony soap suds
6) The great black ships of the Corsairs of Umbar sailing up the river, seen from the city and the battlefield, bringing yells of joy from the uruks and cries of woe from the men. Suddenly a flag unfurls from a tall mast of the leading ship and it is the banner of Aragorn, fluttering like a white flame in the breeze
7) Denethor revealing that he too possesses a palantir, and with it, perceiving the full strength of Sauron, is filled only with utter despair. Yet he was still a shrewd and able commander, organizing the defences of the city to the end, and was only broken down when Faramir was brought in wounded and dying, realizing how much he really loved his son. Portraying him as a useless creep from the beginning was absolutely ridiculous. And the flambe scene in which Denethor leapt from the wall like a piece of cooked pork was pure drivel, reminiscent of the other similar stupid Nazgul flambe episode on Weathertop in FotR
8) The long march of the combined armies of Gondor and Rohan to the Black Gate through a silent brooding desolate land with the Mountains of Shadow on their right. On the way they come to Minas Morgul which is nearly empty as its inhabitants have been destroyed in the battle of the Pelennor, and Aragorn orders the burning of the field of rotting white flowers at the entrance to the city of the Nazgul. Towards the end the movie seemed rushed for time and everything seemed to move abnormally fast compared to the beginning of the movie. Bad pacing, but I guess the audience needs to go to toilet
9) The force led by Aragorn and Eomer arrayed before the Black Gate, rank upon rank of grim horsemen and knights in shining armour, banners flying, challenging beyond hope the might of Sauron. The army of many thousands in the book was downplayed to a ragtag band of few hundreds in the movie
10) The vial of Galadriel, flaring to spectacular brilliance in the hand of a selfless brave young hobbit, pours light into Shelob's wounds, causing her unbearable pain and forcing her to flee from Sam
11) The statues of the Watchers at the gate of Cirith Ungol casting an invisible force field preventing Sam from entering to rescue his master. It'll probably be in the extended version
12) The fall of Barad-Dur, with its innumerable towers and battlements, a fabulous sprawling city, great and invincible, sliding down its mountain throne and crashing down in ruin. Somehow in 14 years I've never imagined the Dark Tower as an erect penis with an Eye on it.
13) Romance blooming between Faramir and Eowyn, and both of them standing on a wall in Minas Tirith, watching the Mountains of Shadow from a distance, holding hands and fearing for their friends who have gone into battle. At the fall of Sauron in the distance they see a vast black cloud rise above the height of mountains, crowned with lightning, and a tremor runs in the earth and up the walls of the city. Then slowly the darkness departs and the sun breaks out, and a fresh wind whips up their hair, mingling gold and black. An eagle flies in from the East crying that the realm of Sauron is ended forever, and throughout the city the sound of rejoicing is heard.
14) The same dark cloud seen by Gandalf at the Black Gate, rising from the destruction of Barad-Dur, towering to the sky, reaching out to engulf the world but is torn away helplessly by the wind.

Scenes I liked because they're better than I personally imagined, or because they don't exist but were put in to good effect
1) The lighting of the beacons
2) The attack by the Nazgul on their flying mounts on the men in the field and on the city walls
3) Pippin singing for Denethor
4) The battle between the Eagles and the Nazgul above the Black Gate

On the whole the special effects were quite fantastic, and I liked all those quiet emotional moments between the characters :P

2 years ago I gave FotR an A for the movie itself and a C- for the adaptation making the overall grade a B; TT got a B for the movie and a G (1 grade lower than F) for the adaptation making the overall grade D. RotK again gets A and C- with an overall grade of B.

i think the premiere is today isn't it?

I'm sure everybody will be eagerly flocking to cinemas everywhere they're working to catch the final instalment. Too bad for places without cinemas... they'll just have to sit down and pluck maggots out of rotting flesh. Half as exciting, but that's life.

Raya week here in Sabah was so so surprisingly quiet. Delivery was at an all time low that at one point there was only 6 patients in postnatal ward. So much so the staff nurses outnumbered both mothers and babies put together.

Now tho... they are starting to file in with multiple problems. Horrible pregnant women.

2 days to the official opening of The Downfall of the Lord of the Rings and the Return of the King!

ASH NAZG DURBATULUK! Hope it won't be disappointing tho'...
Tomorrow, Dec 16, is the beginning of the 2nd half of the 1st year of housemanship for the most of us!

Except for some of us who started late, and some people who actually started a week earlier, for some unknown reason...
Well life might be less exciting with less emergencies but at least there's less chance of making mistakes and ending up extended. The scare factor of labour room night duty is always compounded by the fact that we're the only doctor there.
Gosh there wuz a lady who came in end of last week with advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth from years of taking sirih. She hadn't been taken care of properly so the cancer has eaten away the whole of her right cheek and jaw so you can see the teeth and tongue. That part of the face is also a boiling mass of maggots, crawling and squirming among the crags and crevices of rotting tissue. When I opened the bandage that day the maggots lifted up their tiny black heads in my direction so it wuz as if many little black eyes turned to stare at me from the ruined flesh. Ugh!

The problem is that after a few minutes all of them creep back deep into the face so it's really difficult to catch them. We've ruled out turpentine dressing as the lady can aspirate, and suction didn't work as we could not reach into the many pits and recesses to draw the maggots out.

At a loss of what to do. Any ideas?

Raya season wuz hell in Kuala Pilah. Casualty unit wuz flooded with MVAs. I'm in Surgery Dept but there is only 1 call list for both Ortho and Surgery meaning Ortho and Surgical HOs have to see both Ortho AND Surgical cases while on-call. They called me back at 5 something am on my call day on the first day of Raya to start the call coz the ppl the day before were too exhausted *sob sob*.

But yeah nothing sucks like O&G. One night I had 4 PPHs, two of which happened at the same time, 1 severe pre-eclampsia requiring MgSO4 infusion, 1 acute transfusion reaction, 1 thyrotoxicosis and 2 flat babies requiring resuscitation. But we've never had 2 eclampsias in a day tho' *ugh*. Anyone doing O&G now or in the coming posting: ENJOY!

Saturday, October 25, 2003

Hi guys,
Syitah, I don't have Lenie's number but Guan Fook should have it. His HP no. is 0124233412. Lenie, Farah, Qamariah and Guan Fook are all doing O&G. MC, Azlina and Chee Foo doing Paeds. I'm the only one doing medicine, so feel a bit lonely in this posting. But it's been ok so far. MOs and specialists nice. Our head of department is not well liked but haven't had any dealings with him yet. Do you guys have to go for vivas and do case summaries? In this posting, I have to go for a viva every month and hand in 15 case summaries. Nevermind, I suppose can cut and paste.
Everybody, enjoy your second posting!

Sunday, October 12, 2003

I am going to O&G next! yucks, the only consolation is that i get it over fast...

4 months sure seemed like a short time. There were bad times, and there were good times, all part and parcel of the job. Keep hanging in there... the next few months should be interesting... what with Matrix and LOTR on their way! Thank god Sabah has a cinema, a pitiful one, but one nonetheless
Hi, everyone. Greetings to all de senior HOs out there. Glad 2hear fr all of u again. It's really been a long long time since i heard fr u guys n gals (as SH mentioned, we din hav internet connection at our home) Sur posting in Alor Star was quite enjoyable, except 4 de lots of oncalls, n GF said he enjoyed his Med posting very much too. Still remember Lim Kheng Seang?? Our PM when we first attended de Haluansiswa back in the good old days. He's senior MO in Med now n will b sitting 4 his MRCP part 2. Not many people like him over here, he kind of had a change of personalities compared to the good nature, patience loving super senior when we were in UM.....

Am having my last few days of holidays now. just watched Identity in Sg. Petani wif my GF. it's quite an interesting movie and worth a watch.

Lee Kien...u r the man..mayb it's just me only but i din even finished one topic of subjects related to my posting...sigh...i'm dat pathetic...hope to at least finished 2 topics in my next posting, which is Peads by the way....will b doing Peads wif MC

Other than dat, i'v seen lots of movies, tv's and play lots of PC games (although they'r still de same boring one) in this posting. Hoping to hav time to do the same next posting....

I dreaded the time when we'll hav to tag all over again.....siiiigggghhhhhh...

Saturday, October 11, 2003

Hi.

Much ward-wise now after first posting. Getting to know better the selok-belok of hospital work, administration and the undercurrents. Had some beautiful moments when I actually helped someone, had lots of ugly moments feeling futile, disinterested or disheartened.

Oh, the loser pakistan-grad M.O. that I kept criticising has gone to join the army medical. So Alan wont have to work with him when Alan come to Surg.

Found it quite difficult to juggle between working and studying. Had to really fit in every minute for optimal time management. Now I really admire our seniors who worked as M.O.s, doing the calls, pregnant or already having kids, doing locum and still can pass exams like MRCP.

Am going to O&G next. Seow Voon still has 2 weeks to go because she started later.
GOOD-BYE O&G! GOOD-BYE PUSSYCAT!

Friday, October 10, 2003

Hello Senior H.O's!! Hip hip hooray for the months that have passed...Penang has been kewl so far,but the rain is terrible! Flooding everywhere, around the hospital even.Gosh...and to think that even that didnt stop patients from flooding the ward when i was oncall...darn sampans!!

God bless everyone :)
i know is bad to drink but now i realize nothing can beat alcohol in blunting our feeling especially the bad ones. find it too bitter !why not adding some sprite into beer, malta into stout, lemon into vodca, syrup into wine, soda into brandy, pineapple in rum, icetea into whisky and after all we've got to blend it well just like our lives-a colourful one. find way to light up your life and you shall find yourself burning bright one day. happy end of posting.

going to singapore to waste some money before going into the hell of o&g!!!!!!

Saturday, September 27, 2003

Sunday, September 21, 2003

err, kalis, if i didn't read shakespear wrongly, macbeth's "period of duty" ended when someone cut his head off. u ought to find another quote.

Friday, September 19, 2003

Hi guys. No internet access in our rented house so only get to read this blog when I go home. Not too busy at the moment. When I'm not on call, I'm glued to the TV. Bought some books to read. At least now can spend some money on books without feeling too guilty. Always fall asleep while watching VCD with my housemates. Oh gosh, I think my life is going to be pretty monotonous. Somebody help!

Friday, September 12, 2003

who said anything about showing concern for people who mean nothing to us?

Sunday, September 07, 2003

nicely put Suraya, just be grateful things are not as bad off as they were last time

Sunday, August 31, 2003

Why am I in a profession which forces me to show concern for people who mean nothing to me, and at the same time takes me away from those I truly care about?

Tuesday, August 26, 2003

EPL EPL EPL!!! Life has begun!! Football season is back again and boy is it promising to be good. MU still strong, Arsenal still playing beautiful football, Chelski buying up all the players in the planet, and Liverpool... er oh they're all the way down there. oops

Saturday and Sunday just wasnt the same without football. Now there can be life after work

Wednesday, August 20, 2003

All seems quiet here... guess everyone must be busy with working life. Sigh... so lazy to work after convo break. Must apply for next leave, at least got something to look forward to.

Friday, August 15, 2003

If you've driven us into the darkness, will we not despise the light?

Tuesday, August 12, 2003

Happy convocation everyone! kind of anti climax since we have all started working

Friday, August 08, 2003

i intubated a patient last week my very first one. i failed once where the epiglottis is almost coming out from the throat. i don't think i will become a anaesthetist. wah. it was very underpressure when the ett just could not past through the larynhx and the spo2 is dropping. hey, what to do you are the only doctor in the ward, MO was in OT, nurses staring at you. luckily mary is with me that night.

anyway. i will be back to KL on monday, 11/8. looking for any kaki to go and have a couple of pint if possible. see you guys, bye.

Tuesday, August 05, 2003

Hi everybody,

Alan and I went to Bahau last week. It was a spur of a moment decision. Bahau is about 15km from K.Pilah. Bahau is definitely bigger than KP. More shops and food choices. Population mainly Chinese. Guess what, we played Daytona there.

During my last call I had to send a patient with GCS 6 to Hosp Seremban at 2am for an urgent CT brain. He was intubated and I had to bag him all the way during the 45minute journey. The road is windy and I was nauseated. This is evil, but I was secretly hoping that he will have a bleed so that he will have to be admitted to Hosp Sban or even neurosurgery HKL. The CT scan showed no obvious bleed, but the Seremban Surgical MO oncall decided to admit him anyway. I took a sigh of relief and (happily) pushed the patient to the Surg ward at 4.45am ... and guess who was the Surg HO oncall? Fabian. He must have been damned chuak to see me with this patient at a crazy hour like that.

... that's not all. When Fabian was attending to my patient, the staff nurse said: Dr Fabian, patient yang kat belakang itu asystole lah. Long live all housemen in the world!

Monday, August 04, 2003

oh what hell ipoh sounds like compared to the rest of you. anyways, no big complaints since i'm already stuck here. was on first call yesterday night. had two polytrauma cases left over from the night before. damn man's BP going up and down all the time. the other guy has been transfused with like 7 pints of blood already, gone through 2 DIVC regimes..... i hope he doesn't overload tonight.

had to attend some orientation today. stupid people. we have all been working for more than a month already and they are teaching us how to fill in lab forms and check blood now. might as well do it when we end our postings. radiologists are people from hell as usual. kept insulting HOs like they are God and knows everything. well, well.... mustn't blame them....afterall, they are the only ones who can see so many tones of grey.

on call again on friday. first call also. no light from heaven shinning at me i guess.

Sunday, August 03, 2003

one more week to convo!!! cant wait to get a break!

post call right now... time to zzz

Saturday, July 26, 2003

hello!! glad to hear about ur life in the other hospitals! Looks like u r all adapting quite well.

We here in KK seem more free compared to u guys, since we seem to be oversaturated with HOs, though that means that u can find more people snaking around.

Here in surgery we are expected to do appendicectomies, but due to the many HOs some are graduating without even doing one! this is a bad thing as once sent out to the district if they dont know how to do appendicectomy means have to send back QEH, leading to curses from specialists, MOs and HOs who have to clerk patients.

You can do practically anything here, the natives are generally very trusting towards doctors and allow us to do anything we like on them! Procedures are at a u ask, u probably get to do basis. Heard medicine more procedures but also oversaturated that they are only doing like 4-5 calls a month!

Taking 1 week leave for convo, from 10-17th of August! see u all then!

Thursday, July 24, 2003

seok Hong: u r back in Penang meh,??!! Went to our home just now (~ 5.45 pm) but ur car still there. Thot u hav slept. What form do u meant we hav to sign??

And people, if we wan our representatives to get our jubah 4 us, how do we sign the surat kuasa? Do we hav to write one ourselves or the is any particular form to sign?? Well, cant wait to c u all again in convo...

Like SH said, life in HAS not bad at all, at least 4 me in Sur. However, i'm posted to this ward call K1 (just opposite SH's ward) where we start our morning rounds with our head of departments at 7 am!!! So we hav to b there earlier than him to cover all the cases n do our rounds b4 he came, but i think some other places might b worse...however, sumthing crazy bout my ward is that it is a acute emergency surg ward, so all the specialists n consultants, heard me ALL will come to our ward to do their own rounds, OWN rounds throughout the day. So we usu end up with at least 5 ward rounds a day and do not really hav time to do the ward works which we will be scolded for later...hhhaaaiii...what luck.

There's 2 chronic HOs here who never promote to other posting, not to say to MO....they r like in their 30s...1 Chi n another Ind...they never do any calls though..the Chi only works fr 8-4.30 pm (office hours) n disappears after that...the nd HO even more "kheng", only follow the morning rounds, then disappears for the whole day. Luckily they r not in my ward. But i think they r quite 'smart' though to keep life as a chronic HO...no need to do calls, 8-5 working hours n can do locum at night. They might even end up earning more than a MO.

Doing sur here in HAS is not bad. We got to do many procedures that the Head (bog boss) said we had to do at least 3 Appendicectomies, 3 chest tubes b4 we can 'pass' to other postings. Surgeons here r crazy, they manage everything even though they don't hav the sub-specialist to do dat. Thus, neurosurgeons in Penang and Ipoh r very gratefull to us here coz we seldom refer cases for them. Those considering Surg post-graduate might wanna consider working here coz as a trainee specialist, u get to do MANY procedures, n they hav proper tutorials and conferences for training specialists, even for us HOs.

Well, enuf bout my life. On 2 days leave to settle some convo stuff. Went to a tailor just now to made the lounge sut for convo. Hopes it'll turn out nice.

Everybody out there, wish all of u good luck and all the best.....hoe we can hav get-together during the convo.
Hi guys! I'm back at home for 5 hours because have to sign the convo form to ask buddy to take jubah. Alor Setar half day on Thursday, what.
I'm doing Ortho. Not bad. Some days work from 7 am to 4.30pm. Some days until 7.00 pm. Nurses and MOs nice. Did 5 passive calls and 3 active calls already. Next active call tmrw. Passive call have to go to OT for emergency cases anytime. Active call have to see cases which come in via A+E and cover the wards after office hour. Luckily here got MAs to do CMR and POP. Glad to say at least I can insert Steinmann pin. Haven't done Ray's amputation and refashioning yet. Having aching limbs after carrying patient's leg in OT.
Alor Setar good for surgery and paeds. Ah Ngou in surgery now. The surgeons here do everything, even neurosurgery. HOs have to do at least 3 appendicectomies.
MC in O&G. Workload not too bad because can go back 4.30 pm if not on call. But said gynae nurses not so helpful.
Guan Fook having a very , very busy time in Medicine. Even have to go back to hosp. fr 8.00 -10.00 pm to do research for the department.
Food here o.k. Can get Malay food and Chinese food quite easily. Our house comfortable but don't have much time to clean it.
Great hearing from you guys. Will see you all during convo:)

Sunday, July 20, 2003

Hi guys....today and yesterday was my full day off!!! wah....such a liberating feeling...finally have time to explore KK town...went to watch Terminator 3 ...wah liao...here got Golden Screen Cinema man....
Gosh...seeing pregnant ladies here up to gravida 15!!! makes me wanna take O&G (which i hate) just to become BTL specialist!!! I mean, if u calculate....(taking a gravida 9 )....there's extra work for housmen times 4 each time they come for delivery and antenatal check up (taking Para 5 at the most) After each patients that i see...i give a stern look..."mesti ikat selepas ini eh!"

cant wait to go back for convo....1 week of break.....very much needed.
Wow...i almost forgot that the blog exists! By chance someone reminded me,gosh again! So hello + warm greetings everyone! I'm in Paeds in Penang GH and now recovering from a grueling call! Ever heard of Pandas syndrome? Whoa! This 'suspected' case came in late at night and started a chain reaction of crazy investigations and numerous other admissions! The patient had myoclonic jerks of the head and left UL + vomiting + ...... Where are all the URTI's when u need em?hehe....
The abundance of houseman terror tales here could make Apartheid look like a small issue,hehe..oh well,we'll PREVAIL!muahaha!
Hope i have not lost it yet..
Penang GH is a nice place, i mean Paeds.Quite a number of kewl people, even some of the consultants are nice! My nickname in the ward is 'KOJAK' ! Numerous PMC students,i mean Penang Medical Students roam the ward i am working in,and some are babes!hehe..There's always hope, even in the darkest of times...
Do take care people + happy H.O ing. Seeya at graduation :)

Friday, July 18, 2003

wow, now i know what luxurious life you people lead in KK. Over here in ipoh we hardly see each other.I mostly see sathiya around. Chun Wearn is like getting hell in surgery. Didn't sleep a wink throughout his call. and fell asleep in the hall during CME.Almost dropped his head on the Malay girl's shoulder next to him... then again... maybe it was intentional.

Well, sathiya has said it all... we are getting the raw deal here. and today, the ketua pengarah came to bullshit. I was post call and fell asleep.
Peter's the only one enjoying here. He's in paeds and the ratio of HO to patients as we counted the other night is 1:2. Meanwhile Nissa gets 30 admissions a day in medical. The other day she somehow landed herself with two pagers (2nd and 3rd call) and was running approx 8 wards throughout the night. She has filled in more death certs than any one of us. Of course, if sathiya (O&G) fills in one, he might as well sign one for himself .

Kooi Yen: I heard about pekki going to penang. Well, enjoy yourselves. Try not to fight. Then again, you probably won't see much of each other.

Got to build up some muscles. All these ortho cases involve either fat guys or atheletic ones and holding up their limbs is a sheer agony.almost collapsed in OT after the call.

Thursday, July 17, 2003

hi yeeling here. in o+g jb hosp, the supposed the largest production unit in msia. hectic as expected. the worse is the responsibilities i suddenly have to assume like having to arm 20 pregnant ladies and insert 10 prostin 5am in the morn by myself. both of which i had no experience during medical student days. i believe half of the prostin dropped out and half the babies have incurred suspicious lacerations on their head. agreed with lee kien, good to keep low profile and act blur (not too difficult a task for me). a lot of time i was given strict warning not to include my grandma stories into the clerk sheet. (don't write the pt NBO for three days post op because the mo wants to discharge pt).

and yes tony, i do miss those uh stickers. do you people have to do a Bleeding time / clotting time? a funny, time consuming test which consists of deliberately pricking the patient's finger to assess how long it will bleed and fill some blood into a tiny cylinder , then keep turning it until it stops flowing. i really hate that one. nobody really know how to interprete the results.

Howdy everybodee?

Another week has passed. The weeks seem to pass faster now that tagging is over. Calls were ok so far. Keeping low and acting blur, but asking a lot of questions. I find that keeping a low profile works better for the houseman. A few times I noted some things and asked about it, the reply i got is: jangan buat/tanya yang pelik-pelik.

During tagging, I had a MVA pt with some upper limb fracture, and he complained of pain in excess of appearance despite sedation and I kind of asked the MO during the night round if compartment syndrome could be a possibility; and he gave me this "shut up and dont give me extra work" look and said "wah, if like this, i will be very busy everytime u r oncall". Deep inside, I was hoping that the next morning the limb would pulseless (I know this is evil and not fair for the patient) and teach him a lesson. However, the pain subsided the next day (good for the patient).

During my call at 3am this morning, I saw this patient who c/o haematemesis and while I was clerking him, I realised that he actually is having a new stroke. Then, in front of me, he aspirated vomitus and started gurgling and gasping. Quickly I set up mask, oximetry etc and called the MO. When he arrived, first thing he asked was did i do a PR. Of course i didn't, and he was displeased. I was thinking like, come on, I am more concerned about this pts ABC at this point but there he was asking about PR. Felt like PRing him there and then. The pt subsequently required intubation and ICU admission (which cost my night's sleep).

Ok, that's my rambling this time. One good thing is that I got my pay cheque for the half month too. Happy happy.

til next week.

Hi guys,

Wow, the Blog looks spanking new and cool :) Am writing from my grandma's house in M'cca. Came back here this weekend and wuz back in Subang last weekend. However will be on-call the next 2 weekends. Can't complain I suppose.

Work in HKP is quite light compared to other hospitals. There's more free time and less pts. We get to go back at 4.30 everyday, if we've finished all our work, and we get weekends and public hols off, assuming we're not on-call. The bad point is the learning experience is quite limited. I don't really mind I guess if I can go back during weekends and I actually have time to myself to do the things I want to do. It's a trade-off. Depends on the person and what he wants in life. Currently I walk around the hospital with my log-book in one labcoat pocket and Asimov's Prelude to Foundation in the other :)

However they're not sending many new HOs to KP. Because of the new 2 yr system, the Ministry counts the 2nd year HOs into the total no of HOs in the hospital. However in the hospital the 2nd year HOs are considered junior MOs and are doin MO duty and calls. I'm in O&G and by the end of August there will be 8 MOs compared to 5 HOs. In September because the HOs are spread so thin I'll be running the Labour Room on my own and having EOD calls *yuck*

People here are nice. I do get scolded now and then for doing the things I do: mostly for dreaming a lot and being slow at work :P But at the core the MOs are friendly compared to those in some other hospitals I've heard. The nurses here are like my own aunties and the specialists are ok too.

I wuz told that KP and Sungai Petani are the only 2 hospitals where HOs are off on weekends. However last weekend I met Suraya in Subang Parade and she said that in HUKM they've weekends off too. We were so glad to see each other in Parkson we screamed. Gosh it felt so good to see one of you guys again.

It's a bit quiet in KP and thank goodness Lee Kien is there with me. As you know we both are renting a house outside, despite not gettin any housing allowance, and it's quite comfortable, if not a bit bare.

Liza's mum has called the uni and has been repeatedly told that convocation IS on Aug 12 until further notice. *Sigh* why does no one believe me. UKM's convo is on Aug 16, and USM's is on Aug 8. I do think they changed it because of the clash with UKM but I'm not sure.

I don't have time to send individual greetings to each of you guys so good luck to u all, the others in your hospital, your luopos and luopizahs. Will write again sometime from a cybercafe I expect.

Cheers

tony, i don't think the conjunctivitis' virus is originated from chicken, please. and mine believe to be bacterial in origin if not it won't reponse so well with CMC eye drop. i miss my student day where i don't need even MC if i have attended more than 80%. going back to work tmr. ha i am back from heaven to hell. where is earth?

Friday, July 11, 2003

Hmmm... i heard the reason they changed the date is coz it clashed with UKM.

Anyway, Tony and I are having damn big headache securing leaves. That's bcoz there are 6 of us UM people in Surgery, and if we all go it is like 50% of the HO available leaving at the same time! The rest will just suffer. So we have to sit down and planned out our leaves so dat some go earlier, some later.... but cant do all that if date not confirmed!

I heard that Teluk Intan has only 10 HO? dats like 2 HO per posting... so EOD call maut maut ke? no wonder havent heard anything from Adeline.

my conjunctivitis is improving. going back to jb to work soon i think maybe this sunday. can't afford to spend too many days MC. ah it is a nice break but not worth it!

i am worried that our convo might be crushing with the UKM's. heard theirs in also more the less same date as ours. ah ya! how to apply for leave then.

roddy: long time never heard from you? are you alive?

Thursday, July 10, 2003

Alan just told me it's on the 12th afternoon. But seeing the way they keep changing the dates... who knows?
kalis: you are lucky already to get your pay so soon or at least you have something to be glad with in contrast to the hell of your environment. don't know when will i get mine......
no one will really believe me 'cause i am taking a big break now goyang kaki at melaka. i have an unilateral red eye now and was forced to take a eight day MC. my god, it is going to use up my entire leave for this posting. don't laugh or admired it! it is no fun at all. saw an eye MO before i got back home, he said it is most probably is a bacterial conjuctivitis-pus and pseudomembran in my right eye.

yanwei: do you remember your form six classmate, irene. she is now in JB doing Hman also(paeds). jb was not in her choices. poor girl eats only bread almost everyday. i wanna help but you know lah not convenient ma with my loupo around.

tonny:i suggest that you become our penghulu in this blog 'cause you appear more frequently but you know what, i am coming in after you.

kooi yen: i know lah. but sometimes both are busy and it makes not much different even if we were apart. you take care.

oh some said our convo will be 15-18 of august. not sure yet. any one got any idea?

1 more day of tagging....yeah.....
tomorrow must present somethiing in front of the dept...cincai lo.....
am eating more nowadays...snacking here and there.....
heard that there are 2 types of HO...one that puts on weight...while the other type loses weight.
at the rate i'm eating..think i'll end up the former.
the banana goreng here super delicious....dunno why. must be some super kadazan flour.
post call.... so tiring... one critical patient is enough to spoil ur night.... blurrr

Saturday, July 05, 2003

hey ppl....i'm counting down....3 more lousy days of tagging! and guess wat...! the day after tagging ....kena on call pulak...
today, got my my way out tagging at 6pm....that means 5 extra hours of rest...
gosh...hate O@G....the only consolation is that it's one of the more demanding posting in terms of stress and schedule of work...so by the time i do other posting...it might be a breeze......cei....as if....mana tau, still blur blur...
Hey guys,

I am in Surg too. Much more free compared to Seremban. I get to go back at 4.30pm everyday unlike Seremban where surg ppl go back at 9pm. I have 6 calls this month. Did one call already. Luckily no MVA case that night, so it was pretty ok. The roads here to Seremban and other districts very winding one, so higher chance of MVA especially after happy hour.

Feels like surg patients here are not managed properly. Got only one surgeon and he is more like a tukang bedah, he rarely actually delves into patients problems and addresses them. He just do the op. Morning round with him also super fast. The actual ppl making decisions for pts are the M.O. (there is no registrar here). The M.O. also 2nd or 3rd yr in govt service. Management here is more like symptomatic, the underlying cause not addressed and pt keep coming back. Any sakit abdomen that is not a/appendicitis - buscopan. Epigastric pain? -Cimetidine. RIF pain not fitting description of a/appendicitis - "subacute appendicitis". Renal colic - M pot citrate. No ultrasound for surgery here. OGDS also is the rigid metal one. No tube with camera. All radiology inv must be sent to Seremban. Usually before their TCA SOPD to review their IVU/US/CT etc, the pt will be readmitted bcos of the same symptoms.

This is not a place for ppl aiming for FRCS. Sure, we houseman get more chance to do procedures, but donno the way they teach us to do is correct or not.

Anyway, the good part about it is I really get a lot of free time for myself, which I really need for my own reading. So, I kerja pun tutup sebelah mata, just follow the M.O instruction only lah. Next time when I become M.O./registrar then only I try to do what is right for the patients.

I am in female surg ward. At the max also 17 + 3 beds at ony time. Last week only 6 pts for 2 days. Workload is really ok.

Remember the senior Lim Choo Ghee (i think is 3 yrs older than us), he is preparing for MRCP but he is put in O&G by the pengarah.

We got morning assembly (like school one) every first monday of the month where we line up and sing negaraku and the pengarah talks. Ridiculous, dont u think. Wonder if u guys got this also.

There is also this UPM chinese senior houseman at O&G (Alan is at O&G now), whom I think is full of himself.

Alan and I live in a rented house all by ourselves. We have not found time to make the house cosy.

Take care.

P/S BM phrases are creeping into my conversational speech, since working in govt hosp. I heard here for the first time the expression "jonah"(really unlucky; many admissions). Do they use this phrase also at ur place?

Apala u tailo. What no kaki, u staying with lao puo should be fun what. 2 weeks liao mah ok lo. can syiok syiok go over to singapore.
actually i think those who got surgery first are really lucky in the sense the we got time to adapt to this alien world. we are like a lost troop venturing into this unknown galaxy far far away at somewhere near M12?.
wah !really admired those in KK can stay together with friends, must be fun at least when you all are free.
me here hardly find kaki to cho tai ti(big 2).
chiew leng: samelah here o&g also have to do tagging from 7am to 11pm for 2 weeks leh. i hardly see my luopo around.
tonny: did u still owe me money?

Thursday, July 03, 2003

kai inn: haiya...convo that time can get from me le....your stuff still safely intact...
halo...

i hate o @ g!!!!
counting down.... 15 weeks more to go....
1 more week of tagging...tiring....645am till 11 pm everyday....
makan makan here very limited....the places where we get food here is kat "bawah pokok" or "tepi longkang" or just in hospital cafetaria....3 lousy choices...
am craving for so much food.....

hello hello hello!! nice to see that some ppl still got time to go blogging. U'll be hearing more from us blokes in Sabah coz we got our own apartment and phone lines and all. So no problem with internet access.

Dunno why Tony on EOD calls considering that there are 23 ho in the same posting! he just too kind that he changed with someone and ended up with EOD. TOny, Jeklin, Donna, Elsie and I are in surgery, the indians in ortho (all indians end up there), chee chan in medic, chiewleng in o&g.

Surgical life here is not bad. people here are nice, nurses dont scold. not on call can get to go home by 4.30pm if work finishes. Had my second call yesterday, slept from 12am to 6am. SO unlike my first call last saturday. berlambak-lambak admissions, barely got any sleep.

Dengarnya UH like lepak sungguh. hai... somemore can bully medical students clerk case for u. so practically no work.

Havent got much time to go exploring KK yet, gonna get a car soon.

U guys stay in touch as much as u can.

Monday, June 30, 2003

Hi, everybody.
How's all of ya doing? Hope u'l r still alive and well,hehe...
Finished tagging last Fri together wif MC and GF. SH finished hers a day earlier, well, as expected lah (she's more terrer what). Tagging days r really HELL. Start working at 6.45am n only finished at 12am. But, finally, all were behind us now..
I'm currently doing Sur, MC n Ina get O&G, GF n Lenie Med, Nurul n ???(i dunno her name) doing Peads n SH doing Ortho. although there's no life in Hosp, at least we still have a very NICE home to go back to. Only started to enjoy the house more these days since tagging r over.
Seow Voon just joined us today. She'l b doing O&G too. Hope to c her soon...
Good Luck Guys....

N i 'm on my first on-leave tomorrow, yeah....

Saturday, June 28, 2003

boy, i hate housemanship, i hate hosp , i hate oncals, i hate tagging, ow, i hate my life.
wait, i dun hav a life.
tony,
may bahailulah bless you thick thick and got super kao kao power to last ku ku. ha ha!
i jusy have my very first on call yesterday. oh my god, i can't believe i got through it and i can't make myself not to believe that i still have many more to go through. it is a strange feeling where words do not have its part to play perhaps roddy will understand me for what i mean.(my long old roommate). anyway, i am in surgery with hariz, shikin and zakiah: yeeling got o&G with yahya, gambek. rosman and ela got medicine. smoker(kamaluzaman) got paeds-he just joined us this week. i am facing singapore evryday coz i it is so unavoidable as part of the scenary through the ward windows. Jb hospital is also called as a jetplane. it looked exactly like an aeroplane from above, crushing toward singapore but failed to make it and end up as a refugee centre! wish no one will have mental breakdown within this hard time of all time. don't blame but please don't believe in eternal life it means eternal suffering.(not applicable to christian and muslim).

oh, chew ling, how am i going to get back my staff in our house meanwhile you already flying to kk. ah boy you are so lucky.

Monday, June 16, 2003

All of us posted at Negeri Sembilan went to the Pejabat today. Alan and I are reporting to Kuala Pilah tomorrow. Heard from Vijayan (who reported at KP today) said that KP Hosp is opening up another house for the incoming housemen to stay. The original house is full. Sounds good? No. The house has no electricity and water. No furnishing whatsoever except one bedroom that has beds. And it is really dusty and dirty. The clerk said they "will do something about it". Alan and I are considering a RM250/mth single storey terrace house.

Carren is sharing rooms with Mong Tieng and Rathika. Rooms are not too bad. Toilet looks good. I guess she will more when she logs on. Fab and Vicky are roommates. Their room is big, but a bit run down lah. But big. Seremban GH ppl will start tagging tomorrow, 7am-11pm.

KP looked nice and easy, and the people we met so far were friendly.
Well, this is it....the beginning of our slavery days....
Hope all of us can emerge from it in apiece.
To all my friends out there, who had been with me through thick and thin, may GOD bless you all...
Lets us wish together that from the moment we start working, the whole world (or, at least the whole Malaysia) be healthier and stronger (so that we won't suffer too much during houseman, hehe...)
Let us wish together now...Health For All...(hey, this sound familiar...isn't it our Baktisiswa Theme....)

Good Luck Everybody

Sunday, June 15, 2003

Well if KP got cinema also won't watch there :P

Anyhow am leavin for Seremban in an hour or so. This is my last post before life as a working slave begins.
Bye everyone.
A TOAST TO ALL

Each of us have different goals and objectives in family, career and life, may we all tread our chosen path with confidence.
Let us all emerge triumphant.
And not take no shit from no one no more (ok, maybe for the first few years we will, but tahan first lah).

Above all, may all of us be well and happy always.

I will always remember the things you guys have done for me and Seow Voon throughout the years. (Gosh, I sound like I am going to die tomorrow or something).
Thank you.
Hullo everyone. Good luck for everything. Remember that what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Crippled, but stronger.

Will write here if I can. My entries will probably read 'Hi. I see nobody is here still. Well guess what I did today. Slept. Yeah, same as yesterday, and the day before, and all the other days for the past 3 months. Am planning to hang out at the mall, but it won't be built till 2015 when KP becomes a city. Also abandoned all plans to exercise, having decided not to go against the course of nature, and will now go with the flo' and grow a beer belly. Cheerios.'

My singing is horrible. Cats throw potato(e)s at my window at night.

May the Shrine give Jacen the will to weather a houseman's life in KK, the strength to clean the condominium he'll rent, and the stamina to swim the swimming pool in the condominium he'll rent.

hi ppl, me again, spreader of bad news,
since this is my last day as official penganggur, jus wanna wish everyone all the best, keep cool n we'll get thru this.
me got a pep talk from pengarah of ti hosp - she very kindly posted me to o n g - considered the worse posting sighhhhh. nvrmd better do it fresh after long hols wit good supply of overload of sleep n energy stores.
keep in touch ppl. no internet access but got sms wat.
will miss u all loads, take care till convo ok
adeline
hmmm, i am afraid. very afraid...

Saturday, June 14, 2003

seok hong: with a house like that ..(at such a price!?! )..i'd opt to stay out! u can survive housemanship - hey why not...after all we survived the battle with the leeches in taman negara right? ; )
adeline: TI accom sounds sub-standard...but...look at the brighter side, it's the company dat matters. (i'm not talking bout the student nurse bunking in with u)
ju ann: Aim#1: tune up the biological clock - wake up at 6am! Aim#2: look good at GCS level of 6
carren: living on top of the hospital punya advantage: u can wake up at 7 am or later la-no problem. Wake up later pun boleh, if you sleep in the next day's working clothes....(ewe.....)
liza: your nephew's so lucky...having a aunt who will soon accumulate her gaji and pamper him!!!
yan wei: urm.... i was groggy when i answered the call just now...but i did hear wat u said....something about u depositing 4-figure $$ into my account? or was it 5..?
Masy: o&g calls masa final year shiok kan - tak tidur, 'ta bau' and makan only...i'm sure you'll miss us (budak kong and ckb) during one of those looong calls u're gonna have in UH labour room ...!
mycroft: u're on your own now, big boy oredi...find another auntie, will'ya - one who has de $$$ to give angpow?
hung tiong: best of luck -try getting real close to your 'selayang' brother-some of his good luck may actually spill over.
ckb & cky: we need to learn the art of scolding those *#& ppl by end of next week..until then, let's meet up, un-rot and do sumthing!
chee foo: remember how the drs down under work?...(dream)....sigh we won't live that kinda life...g'luck mate! btw, y stupidfella?
tony: been wanting to ask this but kept slipping off my mind : did u send gawai card to Pak Jisuk eventually??
to all the rest:
happy working!
if it's any consolation, there are solutions out there...
at a pay of about RM 2500 per month, your gaji se-jam is about RM 4. (that's if you only go on-call 8 times per month..)
If not mistaken, McD's pays about RM 3 per hour??

see u all in convo!....that is if we recognise each other, donning those penguin robes in the hot sun.
Alor Star gang going to stay out-lah. Yeah, want to 'menjalin persahabatan' with other HOs but 3 to a room not such a good idea-lah.

To everyone: See u guys during convo, ya. Remember, human beings are very adaptable and flexible. We can survive this!

as for staying out or not, f life is indeed so tiring, not worth to stay out. No2. once given a place to stay, they may not pay us our housing allowance, like klgh. so whether or not we want to stay out, depends on whether we have the option or not.
hmmm, i am afraid. very afraid...
Adeline!! u've just made my day telling me dat 9pn is a luxury. :)

everybody seems to have to work till 8 or 9. how come dont see uh ho after 5 one?
It's scary to hear Kalis' and Adeline's stories. Wagner (who is in KP) said that the typical day in K.P. ends at 8-9pm, earlier if curi tulang, but we'll have to see. Maybe it is worse during tagging.
Fab: Sorry babe, no astro. U watching spanish league? C ya.

Friday, June 13, 2003

oh forgot..
our dear senior yipkarweng said tat it is normal practice to be tagging till 11pm or 12am(n 9pm is a luxury)
alamak wasted sympathy on kalis!!!
dental officers get bout rm50 less than us as shown on the pay list we had. they r u41 too.
hmmm... wouldn mind getting rm100 less for tat life i mean for any life!!!

checked out t intan quarters today
man!!! talk bout small!! cant decide whether college 6 single rooms r smaller or TI girls accom are smaller (btw female ho live wit student nurses in nursing hostel)
equipment in gals room = one bed, one absolutely yucky 16 year old mattress with tears in it (yeah, ho time is stressful, so beat the hell outa ur mattress la), one sink with mirror (n old rice in it) -- to wash underwear i presume, one big yucks cupboard, one ceiling fan which only moves when set to maximum but still moves at minimum speed, curtains like banting pattern, one power point, one telephone----just for hospital to call u (no borak function), weelllllllll wat else huh?? -- like nothing!!

lets go to wat isnt there --- no chair, no table, no romantic lights or super duper double lampu kalimantang, no dressing table, no attached bathroom, yeah n bad line for maxis too there --- n i tot 6 college was only town place with bad maxis line

lets talk bout the privileged males :
1. they stay in proper ho hostel (why cant they stay with the student nurses -- bet they WANT to)
2. their room is like 4X the gals room size
3. they have attached bathrooms
4. must repeat BIG rooms for them --- like 3X the junior or klang rooms (honest!!!) -- u get the idea??

just bought mattress today...good investment for a ho don u think?
bet alan is sorry he said i din post nuff complaints---be careful wat u wish for .....
A day in the life of Kalisvar... tagging house officer in KK Hospital...

I wake up at 6am... groan... have to be in the ward by 6.30am. Sigh sigh... what have i got myself into. Still the people in the wards are mightily friendly. Am tagging along with a MA who's showing how to put on POP and stuff. Morning rounds... found out this has to be followed every day without exception... even on Sat and Sun! Ortho ward is full of indian mos and specialists... led by a Chinese head. lunch at hospital... dinner can go out. But have to come back to the ward till 9pm. this cycle continues for the next day... day after day for one week. Seems it's a rule in ortho that all houseman have to stay back till 9pm every working day... regardless of on call or not. Sigh... life is all within the confines of the hospital. Still... have the consolation that saturday and sunday afternoons and nights are free... if not on call. Lots of hands on to be learnt... h/o are expected to perform ray's amputation by themselves after 1 month. can't complain.
JA: yes i totally agree... anybody would look depressed on a shrine offered to jacen. Am sure they all hoped to be on the one dedicated to alan. ;)

Tony as Cleo's bachelor of the year? not impossible... time will tell. Wear the shades man... so much cooler.

Klang rooms not that bad... so what if they're small and cramped and hot and smelly? u wouldn't notice all this as soon as ur head hit the pillow. u guys thinking of renting outside tho? why not stay at miss chu's place?

No news from Kalis... hope he's not being tortured....
Fab: Carren is coming at 8.30pm. Up to you lah, come anytime you want. If you come earlier, I bring you out for dinner. From Melaka, exit at the 3rd Seremban toll (1st is Senawang, 2nd Rasah, 3rd Sban town; the reverse is true for the rest of you guys who are coming from KL). Wait at the left bank of the road immediately after you pay the toll.

(You guys who got Seremban: The 2nd eremban toll (Rasah) is nearer to the hospital, but you'll need to exit the first toll to get to the Pengarah Kesihatan in town centre).
Fab: Ei, did u receive my sms? Ur number is still 0173324207 right? Have you got a bus ticket? Come lah anytime you want on Sunday. My number is 0124102174.
no insinuations taken tony. no worries, to each his own :). u should do what u think is best for u, put ur foot down once in a while bud.

ah ngau: seok hong's home number is 04-3996355. Dunno if it's been changed.

Alan: have fun exploring the 3 wondrous streets of kuala pilah. btw... ur sis needs to see a doctor is she can mistake cow dung for bikini clad girls. Or maybe u do... ? :)

The KK hostels are for all the poor contracted doctors from Phillipines and Indon who can't speak the language properly and will die in the harsh environs known as Kota Kinabalu. Just kidding, actually may be better to stay out considering the housing allowance given.
Yan Wei: hey that explains everything.

Chong Tien: guess all my sis saw wuz a couple o' cakes of cow dung. Anyone could mistake those for bikini girls since they look so similar.

Chee Foo: that house sounds great. Home theatre system and air-con jeez

Lee Kien: I only have 2 CDs: the Eight Dimensions and the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack. It's up to you now...

Carren: I think that means the mystery's solved. Take the RM 2 for a job well done.

After all the hype about the hostels in KK why are they not letting the HOs stay in them? Who are they for?

The reason why Shin Yi found a house wuz that they don provide accomodation for dental officers. Poor Shin Yi wuz camping in with a bunch of students outside the hospital before finding a place of her own.
seremban ppl: how sure r we at gettin the hostel?
fabian: i am drivin, n i suppose the others too, so shouldnt be a prob so far.
Alan: I did my CRP in K.Pilah..trust me...no tanned bikini-clad girls standing by roadside there. The ones your sis saw was probably just passing through on their way to KL or something. You'll see about 3 streets that make up the town and cow dungs if u drive a little further from town.
Seok Hong: U r 1 difficult to contact girl....Have to tell u dat our house-sharing plan is on. Guan Fook and MC hav given me the consent to decide for them the type of house we'll share. So, r u in? I've found 1 near the hospital, approx. 10-15 minutes walk fr home to hosp. Single-storey but big house. Unfortunately, only 3 rooms but definitely >= 2 bathrooms. Hav 2 living rooms and if i did not heard wrong, kitchen is equipped (yeah, u can cook for us, yeah), hav TV, refrigerator and all basic furniture. Heard got Home teatre system too and air-con. I've been to the house b4 and it's really nice n roomy. If everything i said is still there, it's a great house isn't it? N oohh, the rent is RM450/month. So, if u read these, please contact me ASAP. My hp is 019-4283239, n my home 04-9251776.
And does any1 hav Seok Hong home tel?
Thanx..

Alan: That really was a weird dream. If you don't mind, do bring the VCD to KP, I am bringing my TV and VCD player there. Bring music CDs also lah.
Alan: i wonder why ur sis even bothered to point it out to u... not that it'll make any impression right?

Well since Kalis is so tied up in KK w/o internet access lemme tell u wat's been happening to him.

He checked in 9th... and found out he'll be doing orthopaedics. Also found out that the hostels in KK are not accommodating us. They will grudgingly allow us to stay a maximum of 2-3 months before forcing us to pack our bags and leave... whether we have alternate accommodation or not! ok... maybe they're not that cruel...

he is currently staying in the hostel, which is apartment style with 2 rooms. He is sharing the unit w/ another doctor. He has a double room so one of us will room with him when we arrive while looking for another place to stay.

Seeing that he has flown soooo far and is sooo willing to serve the needy people of sabah, the authorities decided to take pity and gave him the next day off!! UNRECORDED! cool, havent start work and we get leave! :) So he went about doing his stuff and house-hunting.

Started tagging the next day, only finished work around 9pm... ended his sms with "May God have mercy on my soul". Go figure...
alan: i owe u RM2
i heard that after we meet the pengarah, take our time in reporting at the hosp. move into our rooms first. report only at 2pm cos they may ask us to work straight away.
others: i may look like i'm online (away) on the msn but in actual fact it is my double trying to destroy my life. just ignore it. when i'm online, i'm really online, ok.

Chong Tien: my sis noticed a bunch of cute tanned bikini-clad girls standing by the side of the road in Kuala Pilah as we drove past. Apparently that's standard attire for females there.

If that's not advertising I don't know what is....

Seok Hong: thanks for your faith! I also suspect that you've not read anything I've written ever :) You wouldn't have been so encouraging otherwise! Some of my works are so boring I fell asleep reading them myself :D

Yan Wei: yes I shudder to imagine meeting the rest of the Pok clan. Who would have known that I'd run out of the saucepan (Melaka) into the fire (Kuala Pilah). My dad called Kuala Pilah a 'Pok stronghold' but I think the naughty man wuz trying to spook me. Apparently many of them have either died or moved.

Carren: have you solved the Riddle of the Missing Twenty yet? Don't lose too much sleep over it, since sleep is a valuable commodity in coming days.

Mycroft: nevermind. And yeah seems you and Yan Wei are in sort of a stalemate with Adeline and me ready to refer cases at bidding.

Tony: the hostels in KP are unfortunately no match for the ones in UH. It's up to KK now.

Masyithah: damn :)

Lee Kien: damn :P

Justin: I had this totally weird dream of quietly sitting with Jay Chou in my house in Melaka watching his own MTVs. I asked him which was his personal favourite but I woke up before I heard the answer....

Ju Ann: it's impossible to mistake me for Lee Ling as Fabian says she smells of strawberries, whilst I smell of pinewood. Have bought lots of instant noodles so won't be testing culinary expertise anytime soon.

Murali: so when you going to Penang?

Fabian: you bought any durian for your nephews/nieces? Careful when you're still sleeping they play with it...

Chee Foo: still rotting over there? Contact Kavita for tips on how to disguise smell of decay.

Adeline: we're not hearing quite enough from you. Where are the quips? The inaneness? Your thoughts on high-heeled shoes, your brother, Ipoh food, life, the universe, and everything?

Kavita: I'm sorry our quest for the ultimate chocolate cake fell through. Let's keep this appointment pending ya, but not too long lest I'm old and eating it gives me an MI.

Have acquired 'the Animatrix'. Bought it within 5 minutes of catching the trailer outside the store. Hope watching it can match the incredibly surreal experience viewing 'Spirited Away' in the cinema long ago with that other pig I know. VCD version, but not very clear tho original. Am adding it to my 'Alternate Realities' collection of outstanding works of science fiction or fantasy in book/movie/animation/music form. Reviews soon.

Having short burst of good nature. Expecting it to end by 7.30.
Egypt bans "too religious" Matrix ~ BBC News 11 June 2003

Global blockbuster The Matrix Reloaded has been banned in Egypt because of its "violent" content and because it tackles "religious themes". The country's censorship board said the film's storyline, about the search for the creator and control of the human race, may cause "crises". Violent scenes also had the potential to "harm social peace", a statement said.

The country's most senior film committee, made up of 15 critics, academics, writers and psychologists, watched the sequel on Monday. A statement said: "Despite the high technology and fabulous effects of the movie, it explicitly handles the issue of existence and creation, which are related to the three divine religions, which we all respect and believe in."

The movie "tackles the issue of the creator and his creations, searching the origin of creation and the issue of compulsion and free will," it said. "Such religious issues, raised in previous times, caused crises. Violence also played a part in the decision", the committee said. "Screening the movie may cause troubles and harm social peace," according to the statement.

One Egyptian critic, Wael Abdel Fatah, said: "The press launched a campaign to stop showing the movie, saying that it reflects Zionist ideas, and promotes Jewish and Zionist beliefs."

Yong sez: No comment.
UH girls: Lucky you! A nice place to stay certainly will boost morale and recharge the mind.
Wonder what it'll be like in K.Pilah.
fabian: yeap d'arcy member of now-defunct smashing pumpkins

Fab: i saw one of us using the pseudonym d'arcy, and i didn't who that is. Then 'stupidfella' told me d'arcy=Chiew Leng

The question is: who is stupidfella now?

Maybe I should change my name to Glay or Lunasea or something.
lee kien:i don't think we should advise your juniors to put their actual choice as second or third.ling sze had taiping as her first choice with hopes of getting ipoh (2nd and 3rd choices). She got her first choice and no reason to appeal back to ipoh.
Tony : Jesline Lai Lian Sing is Chee Foo's gf..
Tony : I have a feeling CFN = Chee Foo Ngou, and BCFN = Bryan Chee Foo Ngou...
CHee Foo : Hey Chee Foo, if i am right, we all wanna log onto the Blog and recognize the names easily, more so as we're all about to start dissapearing from the BLOG and start WORK ! sO,if u could change your name back would be great!
eee
d'arcy is Dr. Lee Chiew Leng...

Who is d'arcy
Some interesting trivia:

Everybody seems to get their second or third choice. Maybe we should advise our juniors to put their actual first choice as second or third, then they will get what they wished for.

If we were not in the new UM MBBS curiculum, at this moment right now we would be in the midst of taking the final exam. (gasp)

There are 60 Chinese first-year intake for UM MBBS this year. 30 of them are from Penang. 16 of those, from Chung Ling. (double gasp)
tony:congratulations on the mail.guess it was just sitting there growing algae.should have beat up the guy after that.(your first casualty)
syitah: yeah,i heard about the UKM people too. That's why i'm a little worried. They are apparently all over ipoh.... which suggest that we'll probably get the old block of hostel while they are already occupying the new one. Must have missed ur news somewhere but who are the 7 in UH?I don't do karate chop anymore....i'm into firearms now:) upgraded. what's idilia's hp number?
kooi yen: the chee cheong fun in TI is not very great so don't give ade false hopes.

Seok Hong:sorry i didn't visit. A lot of things came up last minute and I had to be around PJ.
Klang: Good news. No more evil O&G consultant
Seremban: Pls torture the IMU students at will.
KL: So many of you there...probably need to take shifts during calls
Penang: Enjoy the good food and beaches.
UH: homeground. Well sheltered. This batch of final years are quite stressed now. Make sure you add on to their agony :)
Kuala Pilah: Where??? heard there are many Pok clans there so if you want to beat up Alan make sure you bring him to Seremban first.
To the rest.... the countdown has begun. Best of luck.
alan: wht did i do wrong? over estimate my market value????????
night call

if ever..
there is this feeling…

that when the city’s sleeping…
you feel like running...
your faith is dying…
meaning of life is fading..

don’t give up, don’t give in,
there is a sun
it’ll come, the sun.
an ode to pre-housemen

clock is ticking…
hell approaching…
what’s this sick nauseating
feeling…
so overwhelming..

armed with our MBBS
are we truly prepared?
or would we fumble at BLS and ACLS?

now i see..
why we have CPC..
the one skill that becomes handy..
i foresee…

Alan: i can sense ur power is really diminishing if the empty shrine dedicated to u is any indication. however, may ur power flourish again in KP.

Fab: Thanx, ur few words mean so much to me...

Alor Star geng: Do u all know how to go to the Pej. Kesihatan Negeri? If not, can call me anytime (my hp:0194283239 or housephone 049251776) or if u all wish, any other arrangement is welcome...been checking out the hosp. and hostel. Workloads now moderate. Been told there's 2 batches of HO oredi started working (USM people one of them). Ho quarters quite nice but slightly cramp for the moment coz old HO haven check out. So some rooms might need to between 3 people...hai, considered we had our own room during final year. But the room is spacious and hav own toilet..The guys and gals live can live in same block, but obviously not same room. Our blocks just beside nursing quarters, even nearer than those in Banting. Hope to see all u guys/gals later.

To all my former batchmates: ALL THE BEST. KEEP IN TOUCH,OK?
Chong Tien : No probs mate! Weird sleeping on a king sized bed all by myself though...hehehe..not that i'm hinting u'd be good bed company or anything of the sort...hehehehe..i was on the 11th floor, had a magnificent view of Penang city + all it's splendour! Lotsa lights and chics all over, that i am indeed optimistic of the coming year ahead! " Carpe Diem " ...

Kalis : How's work in KK man? Keep us at the edge of our seats on whats going on there....

Mu!! i'm sorry i missed meeting up w/ u in penang! how was cititel? comfy for the night?
Alan : My phone went into sudden cardiac arrest again...sorry i couldnt reply your msg in time! Time of phone death : 12 pm Sat :( Sent it for repair again, with mounting anger and frustration! How are u keeping my friend? The wedding was awesom and i did get the gift engraved in time! Dont know whether she's opened it yet, i'll wait and hope she likes it !

Seok Hong : Thanx for the gastrointestinal delicacy listing of Penangs finest , it's surely mouth watering! Hope we have time to eat though....

Nick Rhodes : Woi, apo macam ! I think we GET to work Sat + Sun too, and on passive call days, we're stuck in OT at any time they wish to call us (that's during surg + ortho). This is from my friend who's now doing h/manship...May not be so everywhere though!

Actually fab... dat's the exact same thing i would like to know.
Ngou: Your idea about staying out is worth considering. Can test my cooking skills, leh? I think you can cook vegetarian food very well, right? But let's see how the hostel is like first. After all, just 5 minutes walk to hospital, what.

Kooi Yen and Murali: I think Kooi Yen knows the eating places on Penang Island better than me. But if you happen to come to the mainland, I can show you where to get the best char koay teow and koay teow soup. Also where to eat nice hokkien mee, curry fish head, bah kut teh, teowchew porridge, mamak mee goreng, dim sum and vegetarian food, all in the same area.
I'll look up you guys when I go back to Penang one of the weekends. After all, Alor Star only about one hour's drive to Perai.

Alan: Kuala Pilah might just be the perfect setting for you to produce some great literary works. Hey, I'm not being sarcastic. I hope to see your work being published some day.

Hung Tiong: Go impress those juniors in Klang!

Syitah: Thanks for the list of who's going where. Ipun dah dapat surat belum?
Mycroft: like Jacen, you tend to overestimate your own market value.

Kalis will be the first among us to suffer. Good luck to you.
Justin: do contact us when u are in Klang Valley.
Tony: you better contact KKM again if you do not receive your letter within the next 2 days.
Fabian: Seremban was Mong Tieng's 2nd or 3rd choice. Most people who got Seremban did not put it as 1st choice, maybe that is why I didn't get posted there.
Ju Ann, Carren, Yan Wei and Chun Wearn: meet at our usual meeting place and time tomoro.
Everyone: Enjoy your holidays now and enjoy your working life later.
countdown: 1 week to go
well, gues everyone is busy enjoyin the last bit of holiday.
well, alan, u r welcome to sleep in seremban, but do tell ealier, so i would wear double layers pants on the nite.
anyway, seremban ppl, wan to meet up b4 reporting? still thinking whether to go down earlier or not. may go down on 15th straight to seremban to spend the nite in yap house, or mayb in subang. may even go down earlier.
Don't always take things personally. I'm leaving on the 15th.

Saturday, June 07, 2003

Thank you Carren for answering on my whereabouts... have u perfected ur sushi art? u now have so many guinea pigs to try it on in Seremban. I'll be going down again this Monday to send my sis to UiTM.

Alan: Make Kuala Pilah any more appealing and i may consider swithching there. Keep up the good promo work.

Kalis is flying off tomorrow, he's the pioneer who shall pave the way and make life more comfortable for the rest of us in KK!! Kudos to him!! Good luck!!

Tony... well if Roddy also hasnt received his mail u can be consoled that bintulu is about the same standard as KK. Gosh I hope not!!

Fabian: go rock Seremban!!

Everyone else: enjoy working life, and tell us all about it here if can!

Fabian: will be seein you in Seremban I guess. Stay over in your room on weekends ok. Roomies again. Since my other ex-roomie won't be around (yes, talking to you).

Tony: open up! Tho' I'm not quite into Blink either. Have you tried the music of the guy whose picture you see in this page? Fabian, time to introduce him to Slipknot.

Kooi Yen: hope your Thai trip wuz a blast. No doubt your shopping gene was running on overtime. You probably have every Hello Kitty shirt ever made ever. Do still owe you a poem, which I've had no inspiration to write yet.

Masyithah: go kick some kiasu junior ass ok.

Idilia: good luck in Kuantan. It wuz just yesterday that I nearly drove you, Adeline and Ella headfirst into another car in Sepang.

Murali: hey are you still using the same no? Sent an sms over.

Kalis: will miss our evil gossip days back in college. Good luck since you're starting first.

Kai Inn: good luck in JB. Can accompany Yee Ling shopping in Singapore.

Mycroft: see you in Seremban too. If Fabian in M'cca on weekends will sleep on your mattress.

Seok Hong: how are you doing? Good luck in Alor Setar.

Justin: not heard from you since yesterday. Call me you pig!
Wuz at Kuala Pilah Hospital today with me parents and sis en route to M'cca. It's GORGEOUS! For those who haven't seen it, it's a tight aggregate of modern grey low buildings joined by stretches of long cool shaded corridors. It's all quite new and sporty, NOTHING like Banting Hospital. All around are wide open areas of short brown grass (maklumlah the driest area in M'sia), and, standing in the hospital compound, you can see mountains in the distance. There's an out-of-the-way relaxed resort feel to it rather than a busy depressing hospital atmosphere. Possibly because today's a holiday and the hospital's deserted. I think I might enjoy my work and stay there. Possibly. Not expecting too much just yet. Every candle casts a shadow. Maybe the novelty will wear out in a week. Before terminal boredom sets in. Maybe the only cases I see are dengue and bronchiolitis. Argh!

Sigh.
Anyway, LET'S MAKE MONEY PPL. Three cheers to Adeline :D
hullo everybody, my call for ppl to join me in sban seems to be effective. tentatively, ppl there (phantoms/non-phantoms) are rathika, mong tieng, yap, fabian, roshan, anand, vicky, wen jih and me! ha ha, it will become kampung UM!!! the rest are welcome to appeal to sban. the more the merrier and less work!!!!

Fabian: I'm really really SORRY...SORRY...din thot dat my stupid remarks will offend u so much. So stupid of me not to think of other people's feelings first b4 writing what i intended to. Once again, i'm so SORRY....i wish all my friends out there who r appealing against their posting all the best and may u get what u want in the end.....good luck.

So now i suppose, if it is that unlucky that all those who get Alor Star GH but unsuccessful in their appeal(i hope all who appeal will be successful), would u guys n gal (MC, GF, SH) want to rent a house? The 4 of us can live together in our houseman year, how bout it?

Wish all u guys and gals all the best in whatever u do, apply or appeal...
We have received the letter in both Seremban and Alor Setar. Alan and I will have to report to the Pej Kesihatan Negeri on the 16th before going to KP. You guys who got Seremban, if you are not driving down early that morning, feel free to stay overnight at my house the night before, and then we can go together.

For those who are driving down by themselves, here are the directions to go to the Pej Kesihatan.

Comprehensive version:
1. Exit the first Seremban toll (costs RM6.70 from KL), turn left immediately and you will come to a traffic light.
2. Go straight along the road. You will pass two more traffic lights as the road goes uphill. Then follow the road straight downhill until you pass the Seremban bus terminal on your left.
3. At the traffic light, turn left.
4. You will reach another traffic light very soon (EON Bank is on your right). Turn left.
5. (Now The Store is on the right). Keep right as you need to take the first right turn (no traffic light).
6. You are now in a small road (looks like back lane of The Store) called Jalan Lee Sam. The Methodist Church and ACS Seremban (my school) is on your left.
7. The Pej is at the second left turning.

"For dummies" version:
1. Exit toll and turn left.
2. Go straight uphill and downhill, pass 3 traffic lights.
3. Turn left at the fourth traffic light,
4. Turn left again at the next traffic light.
5. Immediately turn right at the first turning.
6. The Pej is at the second left turning.

If lost at any time ask for the "old" The Store (there are two The Store in Seremban) or ACS school.
Ngou: Heard Guan Fook got Alor Star too. Don't know whether he is going to appeal or not.

Chiew Leng: Thanks for the info. Are you sticking to Klang?

GCT: Couldn't contact Kheng Guan. Where did he get?
By the way, enjoy yourself in KK. When are you leaving?

n to remind.. 1 and a half week in countdown.
Hi guys! I've just received my letter. I got Alor Star, my third choice. Hmm... seems the ministry is bent on not sending us to the hospitals in our own state, except for a few fortunate ones. Cheah got Taiping and Peter got Ipoh. Thought I stood a chance with Seberang Jaya Hospital, seeing that it's not so popular, but even that is not to be.

Ngou: Glad to hear you got Alor Star too. Who else, huh?

Esther: Have you found out who else got Penang?

Adeline: Where did you get? I assume you got Ipoh. Heard there's a whole bunch going to Ipoh.

Anas: All the best to you.

Question: Do we get our houseman quarters only after we report for duty or can we go earlier?

Another question: It says in the letter that we are supposed to report to the Pengarah Kesihatan Negeri. Does that mean we have to go to the Pejabat Kesihatan Negeri and not the hospital?
Juann: What Fabian was asking was: how does he go about doing the rayuan to change hospital. I told him that you had some experience with the rayuan thing. Those who have made or are doing the rayuan, tell Fabian how to go about it ok?
Welcome Fabian!! nice to hear ur "voice" around.

Chee Foo.... jokes are fine, just not too many at once, ok? :)

Fabian: i stopped playing CM4 already... got bored. Little dots sometimes do very stupid things. and yeah, slow. Seremban gonna rock with u around, but i hope ur appeal gets thru.
masy:mana u dapat?
cheefoo:keep de jokes coming in..i ran out of entertainment since the ops vcd started.....
hai guys and gals, sorry 4 clogging up de blog wif jokes..thot u all might enjoy it in view of our oncoming nightmare.....
i got my letter today, and as i expected, i got Alor Star. Hey , Yong, where did Siew Voon get? But i heard u 2 r going to work in US, is it true??
for the jokes, well, since nobody's enjoying it, i promise not sending it in anymore...sob sob....

Chong Tien or other administrators, I just got Fabian's new e-mail address: chongfabian@hotmail.com. Someone pls send him an invite to join this blog.

Adeline: Fabian got Seremban. He wants to appeal to M'ca. Lee Ling is already working in M'ca. He said George got M'ca too.

Wah, Seremban sapu so many houseman this year. As far as I know, every year, Seremban take only 1-3 UM Chinese grad, this year so many. But they did not want this local Serembanite (yours truly). Wonder where Yap got.

chee foo: joke is good but not to many and unspecific, for who do you think are supposed to read all these. sorry din mean anything but how are you and where did u posted to?
This guy is out golfing with his buddy one day and he says, "Man I haven't gotten laid in what seems like forever. I don't know what it is I'm just not getting any." So his buddy says, "Hey man I'll lend you my Asian cleaning lady. She'll come in give you a beer, clean your house, fuck the hell out of you, and best of all she can't speak a word of English." So the guys like really man you mean it? And his buddy says,

"Yeah sure I'll send her over tomorrow."

So the next day this guy is at home and this cleaning lady shows up.

She hands him a beer, goes about cleaning his house, and when she's done stands over him and undresses. So they start going at it and she starts screaming "SAMPOWHY, SAMPOWHY!!!" And of course he starts thinking he's like super stud to get the lady to scream like that.

The next day he's feeling all good about himself and he's out golfing with his buddy again. On his first shot he hits a hole in one and just to rub it in he yells, "SAMPOWHY!" And his buddy looks at him and says what do you mean wrong hole?
It was a hot day and a Hollywood star told a visiting Asian actor he knew of a secluded place where they can go skinny dipping.

While they were enjoying the cool water, a busload of women suddenly appeared. Both men made a beeline for their towels. The Hollywood star wrapped his towel around his waist, while the Asian actor wrapped his towel around his head. There was a great deal of laughter coming from the women. They were hysterical.

Afterwards, when there was only the two of them, the Hollywood star asked his guest why he wrap his towel around his head, instead of around his waist and he replied, “Where I come from we identify with our faces?
Sony, the global electronics giant, has some good news for couch potatoes. It has developed a new 'remote control for your remote control', that enables the truly lazy to surf channels while moving even less muscles than before.

"Our new device totally eliminates the need to stretch your arm that little bit more from your couch, to get the remote directly in front of the TV. Now the only muscle you need to move is your finger.", said a company spokesman. He also added that this was just one more step in Sony's global initiative to keep inventing technologies that turn people into furniture, and their brains into Jell-O.

"We wanted to refine the product even more by making it thought-controlled, thereby completely removing the need for any sort of muscle movement at all, but this wouldn't work because most TV addicts are completely incapable of any kind of thought at all", lamented a little Japanese scientist.
Asian guy is having his "SNACK" ( bread and jam) when an American man chuckling chewing gum, sits down next to him. The Asian ignores the American who, nevertheless, starts a conversation.

American: "You Asian folks eat the whole bread??"

Asian (in a bad mood): "Of course."

American: (after blowing a huge bubble) "We don't. In the States, we only eat what's inside. The crusts we collect in a container, recycle it, transform them
into croissants and export them to Asia."

The American has a smirk on his face. The Asia listens in silence.

The American persists: "D'ya eat jelly with the bread??"

Asian : "Of Course."

American: (cracking his gum between his teeth and chuckling). "We don't. In the States we eat fresh fruit for breakfast, then we put all the peels, seeds, and leftovers in containers, recycle them, transform them into jam and export them to Asia ."

The Asian ( pissed of) then asks: "Do you have sex in America?"

American: "Why of course we do", the American says with a big smirk.

Asian : And what do you do with the condoms once you've used them?"

American: "We throw them away, of course."

Asian : "We don't. In Asia, we put them in a container, recycle them, melt them down into chewing gum and export them to America.
Four delegates from China, Russia, the United States and Malaysia attended the United Nations' Meeting. All the nations were discussing about space exploration by the year 2000. Here are some of the conversations:

China Delegate: 'By the year 2000, China will start their moon exploration project. '

Russian Delegate: ' We too, we are going to explore the moon. This time we will see to it that our cosmonauts will step on the moon.'

Bill Clinton: ' We the United States will also explore the moon for second time.'

Malaysian Delegate: 'By the year 2000, Malaysia will explore the sun.'

There was a long silence, Bill Clinton stood up and asked the Malaysia Delegate: ' Isn't it too hot to explore the sun?'

Malaysian Delegate (smiling): 'I had this thought out already. We will do it in the evening.'
Teacher says to class: "I shall now read you some quotes. Whoever can tell me who said them, and when, they can go home early".

Teacher: "Who said "We will fight them on the beaches"?"

Lim Sung Wu: "Winston Churchill, 1942".

Teacher: "Very good, you can go home right now, if you wish".

Lim Sung Wu: "I will stay teacher, I'm going to be a doctor, and I need to learn all I can".

Teacher: "Who said "I shall return"?"

Sing Lam Po: "Douglas McArthur, 1944".

Teacher: "Very good, you can go home right now, if you wish".

Sing Lam Po: "I will stay teacher, I'm going to be a lawyer, and I need to learn all I can".

Johnny, at the back of the room, mutters: "Bloody Asians".

Teacher: "Who said that?"

Johnny: "Pauline Hanson, 1996", and he runs out of the room, "I'm going home now, see you tomorrow, teacher".
There was a Japanese, Hawaiian, and a Portuguese guy. They were all stranded on a desert. While they were walking, the Portuguese guy found a car door. He decided to drag it around for shade when they needed it.

So one day the Hawaiian guy complained, "It's hot!"

The Portuguese guy grabbed the car door and rolled down the window." Is that better?"
Two peasants got into an argument over which is more important to the world: the sun or the moon. They put the problem to their village council. The elders deliberated over the question for many hours before they pronounced in favor of the moon in sound logic:

"If there was no moon we would not be able to see anything at night. The sun shines only during the day when we need no light."
Three monks decided to practice meditation together. They sat by the side of a lake and closed their eyes in concentration. Then suddenly, the first one stood up and said, "I forgot my mat." He steeped miraculously onto the water in front of him and walked across the lake to their hut on the other side.

When he returned, the second monk stood up and said, "I forgot to put my the other underwear to dry." He too walked calmly across the water and returned the same way. The third monk watched the first two carefully in what he decided must be the test of his own abilities. "Is your learning so superior to mine? I too can match any feat you two can perform," he declared loudly and rushed to the water's edge to walk across it. He promptly fell into the deep water.

Undeterred, the yogi climbed out of the water and tried again, only to sink into the water. Yet again he climbed out and yet again he tried, each time sinking into the water. This went on for some time as the other two monks watched.

After a while, the second monk turned to the first and said, "Do you think we should tell him where the stones are?"
Seated next to a blowhard at a United Nations dinner was an Oriental man dressed in the robes of one of the Far Eastern countries. The blowhard, attempting to make conversation, leaned over and said, "You like soupee?"

The Oriental fellow nodded his head. "You like steakee?"

The Oriental nodded again. As it turned out, the guest speaker at the dinner was our Oriental friend who got up and delivered a beautiful 50-minute address on the United Nations' definition of "encouragement to self-reliance" by underdeveloped countries of the world. The speech was flawless in Oxford English.

He returned to his place at the head of the table, sat down, and turned to his dinner partner and said, "You like speechee?"
Cow sends Japanese man to jail

(UP) - Earlier this year, the dazed crew of a Japanese Trawler was plucked out of the Sea of Japan clinging to the wreckage of their sunken ship.

Their rescue, however, was followed by immediate imprisonment once authorities questioned the sailors on their ship's loss. To a man they claimed that a cow, falling out of a clear blue sky, had struck the trawler amidships, shattering it's hull and sinking the vessel within minutes.

They remained in prison for several weeks, until the Russian Air Force reluctantly informed Japanese authorities that the crew of one of its cargo planes had apparently stolen a cow wandering at the edge of a Siberian airfield, forced the cow into the plane's hold and hastily taken off for home.

Unprepared for live cargo, the Russian crew was ill-equipped to manage a now rampaging cow within its hold. To save the aircraft and themselves, they shoved the animal out of the cargo hold as they crossed the Sea of Japan at an altitude of 30,000 feet.
