greetings to all.
congratulations are in order to the following people!
Seow Voon and Lee Kien for breaking into the US market! - meaning we are one step closer to free accomodation when we go on holiday!

People who have made it through the gruesome MRCP (made worse by the fact that all the top scorers decided to raise the standard by sitting for it at one go - the others just had no chance)

People who made it through MRCPCh - I'm not really sure who you are but if you are one of them, congrats! heard it was really tough too this year.

To those who are sitting for exams in May, whatcha waiting, whatcha waiting, whatcha waiting for.... get mugging! all the best!

Masyitah...

as i recall no hotel around the hospital area. The nearest you could probably get is the Burmah Road area or Macalister Street area.

Well if u're on a course then i suppose transport and lodging is paid for. Then can even consider the beach hotels. :) Actually not that much further only to Hospital from there.
We just received our USMLE Step 2CS results (the one we took in LA) and we have passed. Now for the hard part: applying for a residency program and visa. The intake for non-American graduates like us is low, especially now after Sept 11. We will give it a shot, and will apply for the 2006 intake.

Happy chinese new year everyone! wishing u a properous year ahead blah blah blah..u know the rest of the greeting so fill in the blanks.

Regretfully, this will be the last day of my leave and i'm on call tomorrow....with several others too. It was great meeting up with everyone. Thank you Liza's mum for the fantastic lunch. Happy happy birthday Ming Chern and Carren. (12th and 21st Feb)
Good luck to Wen Jih in his film recording career if he plans to pursue it.
Alan: sorry we didn't get to see you this CNY. Next month perhaps.
To all those planning to sit for the MRCP middle of this year.. Good Luck. To all those who already took the exam and are waiting for results.. good luck too. Don't try to hide if you have passed, we'll somehow manage to seek you out and demand for a bigger meal so you might as well just admit it and give us a good meal.
For those on call tomorrow - tough luck. we'll probably have to face all the leftover cases from the long break but we'll survive though some of the patients won't.

Happy Chinese New Year, everyone! People have become so poetical lately.
Heard the MRCP and MRCPCH exams were tough. Now, now people, you might not want to post in the blog that you're taking exam but when you pass, please spread the good news around, ok?
Spent 2 blissful weeks doing Anaes attachment recently. It's a good life-lah. Used up the time to complete my summaries. (Paeds MO have to do mortality reports and discharge summaries for ventilated or complicated cases.)
Most of you went through 5 postings ya? I missed out on Surgery, so the only appendicectomy I saw was during my Anaes attachment!
So, who's doing what now?
Adeline, which posting is Seng Kiat in? Planning to continue staying in Manjung? How's Chun Wearn finding paeds over there?
Chiew Leng, not coming up to Penang during this CNY? If you are, let me know and maybe we could meet up.
Carren, come pay us a visit in Alor Star some time.
Tony, enjoying the sun and sea at your place?

No in this life
I put my strength
How could I go on?
Not a turning
As life goes on
I laid my bone
Hardened my heart
Will I go on?
Many a time
Much foolishness
Too tired it's been
Let it be my life
Oh! I will not
My mind deepened
Deeper than what I see
Reach out for your life
Make it as it will be
but be Like….
Love
Loving life
Like…
Loving you
More than my life
My ruin life.

Happy CNY
i'm here again! (adeline speaking)
yup, NOT WORKING today.
i'm lazing around n reading newspapers. how's that for progress? really getting "smarter" here.

have not watched BJ diary 2 yet. just watched "the village" on rented original vcd yesterday. There's a place renting original vcd's in sitiawan n it's my current and foremost source of entertainment. Original vcd's available to rent few months after the actual release but if ur really desperate u can rent new but "fan pan" vcds- quality unguaranteed of course.
Gonna watch ladykillers next. Looks stupid but who cares.

btw, i have reactivated my hotmail account which was killed for the umpteenth time due to a very sorry rated of accessing it. In the process, i have lost all u guys e mail add and also msn messenger add. invite me again to ur msn messenger pls? (it's safe, i'm not that cranky, for now anyway).

got to go ppl, its chow time. what a life!
chiew leng: it is a good thing too, i didn't have time to get the siew pau!

gong hei fatt choi all!

m back in in this air-noise polluted pj/kl....people driving as though they are in fear factor episode ...so merciless despite seeing "baby on board" signs on cars driving by...getting a place to park your car is a challenge......BUT I LOVE IT!

carren: have gotten rid of baggage.....muahahahaha.....(evil laugh)

ade: mandarin orange got brand wan meh? hmm....chinese patients very 'ba bai' (cantonese) wan ler......i oso cannot tahan....!!!ade, have u wonder y we r de onli ones being so cranky...?wat's WRONG with the other?!!!!

adeline: i understand from over last meeting N/S drip does wonders in your hospital, how about some for that cranky woman!

to others: happy chinese new year and have a nice long hol to the rest.

adeline here again,
Am on passive call today. Crossing fingers, toes n eyes in fervent hope that i will not be called. Managed to get nice n long leave for CNY. Yay!! That's for being the only chinese in my combined ortho surgical dept n for being the fella who covered raya puasa n haji n christmas, etc. At last, justice.... hmm but for how long? last two weekends calls are all mine. sob.... But 1st things 1st, must get through this call....

Likely to join anaest next month. Will start with daily tagging for at least 2 months, meaning stick around till 9pm each day n if there is any emergency op in the am hours will have to lug it back to hosp in dark a.m. hours. Anyway, hope it is nicer than ortho surg. I get real stressed up with polytrauma cases. On the plus side, once i'm really on call n if we're not too short, then anaest mo's can take day off after call. yay! note of interest, our scavenger system for gas in manjung OT is out of order, so everyone has been being gassed these past few days n been feeling real sleepy in OT. ha ha :p

Chiew leng, welcome back to the western strip of malaysian earth. Here's some information from one cranky person to another: Few days back, some (chinese) guy n his dad was admitted due to alleged assaulted with multiple incised wound n some # n one sucking chest wound. well, 3 out of 4 ortho MO's were there in OT for 9 hours repairing them n fixing # (from 3am to 12pm). yesterday, we wanted to discharge the fella(quite well already) n the gorilla-like wife said that he was still in pain (the man himself wasnt complaining, mind you) n how is his mother gonna take care of him, etc. "kalau u semua paksa dia keluar hari ini, kita mau transfer ke ipoh specialist centre. berapa banyak pun kita boleh bayar". No gratitude plus aggresively accusing us of being inhumane!(which we are, to a certain extent) N since we had done all the necessary, ISC would only need to give painkillers n nursing care (wash his butt, i suppose) n they would be loved to death by the patient's relatives. Sickening. Why not go straight there to ISC in first place? dumbos, cheapos. Loads of people rich in money but poor in manners around here. Makes me shy to be a chinese, u know? Hmmm... this job is bad for my soul. Compassion levels running real low.

hey, anyone can recommend which brand of mandarin oranges are nice n sweet? Havent had time to buy any of that yet till now. want to buy lots n eat like 5 a day to make up for 1 year of low fruit comsumption.

Well, got to go now. Happy CNY ppl. N drive carefully, n dont drive if ur post call, n dont speed ok? Be safe.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Dear friends,

Time to get together with our families and friends, and have a good break from work.

Best wishes from,

Yong and Seow Voon

Carren...

true... Keningau got Chiew Leng, real life Bridget Jones. go figure. haha

miss seremban siew pao though.

Warning... cranky CL dangerous, will attempt to slap, choke or gouge your eyes out at little discontentment. Advice to keep distance, if u value life.

This is probably my last post before i am systematically chopped up in pieces or poisoned to death. good bye and take care... heed the warning.
hi all!

adeline, u r not de onli one getting crankier......your level of crankiness cant top mine ...
just to illustrate, since when medical dept takes care of any electrolytes problems, on top of that takes care of necrotising fascitiis because patient has 'lots' of medical problems namely hypertension diabetes and esrd, lemme see, bladder tumor with obtructive nephropathy causing ARF...(like duh), or let;s say....chronic tophaceous gout with monoarticular knee swelling diagnosed septic arthritis from arthrocentesis....list goes on and on.....septicaemia due to obvious foul smelling necrotic ulcer (no known medical illness)...

thank god i m taking long break from all the nonsense here....politickings among expat specialist are getting unbearable....

guys in pj....any meet up? this weekend maybe?......will be back on sat..oh come on, let's meet up so u can see de new cranky$#% me!

well... keningau got chiew leng.

seremban don't have bridget jones or chiew leng.
Grief is a quiet thing.
Deadly in repose.
A raging horror, a thunder of abuse.

Raucous-
Demanding-
Incomprehensible-
Tearing all that one has ever loved.

Hopeless,
Forlorn,
Fear-ridden and misunderstood;
Ceasing a moment, and through the years
Returning... to destroy.

To rage,
To curse all that is happy-
or contented,
or trusting.

To threaten every beauty that is true.

Grief?
It's a quiet thing.
