Wow, the last time I wrote, I just got to Alor Setar and starting all over again. Now I have finished one month of medicine in Alor Setar and I am back in Seremban for a three-day break.

I tagged for 3 days and then I was on-call. The thing I have to get used to is going to do morning rounds on weekends. Back in Kuala Pilah, we just leave the hospital during the weekend to the on-call ppl, which is a luxury.

Otherwise, workload and the way things run are pretty much the same.

The bad thing is that I have to re-start my medical posting, meaning I will finish H.O.ship only in end of July, not mid-June like everyone else.

holiday 3 days back in malacca with yeeling, just happened to visit my cousin in hosp melaka with broken leg, u know what happen? i met george for chrissake. he still the same but putting on a bit of weight still cheerful and no complain about HOship in hosp melaka. 3 holidays just not enough and back to today again...ai....stay connect everyone , happy to hear everybody is surviving and soon just soon u know....we all will be MO! hey hey ready to kick the junior HO arses. ha.

Thanks for the invitation. I remember u guys have a great home theatre system. Did I mention I can only get 3 channels on my new TV in KP? I'm mistaken.. actually I can only get 2. But think will stay here till the end. Loneliness is not new to me have had it since forever; I treat acute exacerbations nowadays by sleeping them away.

No plans for MRCP or FRCS or ABCD or BABY. Just want to get thru HOship! Starting mid-May will have only 2 HOs in Med Dept. That's not too bad considering the other HO, who hasn't arrived yet, wuz supposed to be retained in O&G but they're letting him go so I don't go insane doing both 1st and 2nd calls everyday.. Now it's EODs till mid-June. But then it's Med n I'm always stoned for abt 2 days post-call.

Previously tot they'd be retaining HOs in the Depts due to shortage. They're not thank goodness. But that's also why there'll be only 2 of us soon. Catch-22.

1 HO arrived from KK last month (prev in Surg Dept n knows Roddy) asked for Med in KP, came for 2 days, took MC for 2 days, came back for 4 days, disappeared for 4 days then resurfaced in Surg Dept.

Another HO from O&G Dept in our hosp came 2 wks ago tagged for 1 and a half days then took MC for depression. She's now in Surg Dept.

Will KP be worse off than TI? Will I beat Adeline in terms of workload and calls?

Don know.. Stay tuned!

Back in KL now after abt 2 months! Miss all the shopping centres and bright lights. KP is getting a bit dreary. Hope to obtain a phone line hence Net access after June. Don think will apply for Astro too costly! Thinking of writing again but no ideas.

That's it for now. U write me one line, I write you an entire letter. When will all of us get to meet again? In the meanwhile stay connected on this Blog.

By the way u guys look out for Chee Foo ok. Hard work can be distracting but it's often not so! Hope he's ok tho'.. Also he can drive you around town :P

Hi guys. Just a little under two months to go in our housemanship. What are you people's plans? Who's taking MRCP, who's planning to make a lot of money as GP, who's getting thrown to district, etc.?

MC is taking his MRCP (Paeds) Part I soon. Lee Kien and Seow Voon have plans to go to US. I hope I can stick around a bit longer in Alor Setar. Want to do my Paeds posting here and probably Anaes. Becoming an A&E MO might not be too bad either. At least they work in shifts and there's no on calls.

Tony - So jealous of you with 32 HOs in O&G.
Alan - You're welcome to join us in Alor Setar if it gets lonely in KP.

Hi, guys and gals, all my best frenz out there... so sorry to keep u all in the dark.. Well, the terrible thing is, as some of u might have oredi known...sigh....sighhh... Lian Sing had decided to left me. Been in Hell basically in the last 3 months. Crying practically every nite and most moments...Worst thing is we had oredi registered... as there's no more chance for reconciliation (as she firmly STRESSED to me), r in the midst of working out an annullation of our marriage.... Feeling slightly better now after all those terrible months..hav to learn to pick up my life again..although i might not feel like it, but life hav to go on, HOship has to go on....but stillll....... But who am i to bog u all wif my problems, what wif all dis HOshit..... sorry guys...just feeling the need to SHOUT ALL THIS PROBLEMS OUT LOUD..... may God bless u all.....and also her....

went to ipoh hosp this monday to tranfer one baby, i was very tiring but i was glad to be welcome by those guys in ipoh GH after a long 9 hours drive from JB. happy to see them and they look much more confident and MO-looking. we just had a short talk for tea but anyway i had enjoy it. good luck and fortune to you in ipoh hosp. thanks sathiya, peter and chuen wern.

just when i start pickin up ping pong again....gues hav to giv up those games..but stil manage to find time for pirate vcd...
after 1 whole month of workin daily..... finally take 2 days off to sleep at home...

Am in Alor Setar now. Am very glad that I am with Seow Voon again. Got myself a room, well furnished and very near to Seow Voon's house. TV reception here is excellent. Channel 8 and 9 are clearer than my house in Seremban. There are chinese foodstall near here also.

Tomorrow will be my first day in Hosp Alor Setar.

Will need to get used to friday and saturday being the weekend and weekdays start on sunday. I think it's pretty stupid, and Alor Setar is not like under PAS or something like that. The banks here dont follow this system, because of the obvious reason of being impractical... how can they make transactions to KL or the rest of the world on Sunday when eveyone is off. ..... getting sidetracked, let's go back to my main point.

So I was saying ... I will report to the pejabat pengarah negeri kedah tomorrow. Starting tagging during weekend will be a drag, because not all the staff will be there, and being a tagger, I will probably just run errands for the on-call person, and have to clerk most of the new cases. When Alan and I were tagging in medical, we clerked 90% of the new cases between us during the period. I probably wont see how things run regularly, u know like the usual weekday, until Sunday when everyone starts to come backand work. Wonder how many days they will want me to tag.

Spending the past 9 months in KPilah with Alan has brought us together like brothers. Alan, hang on tough. I understand how monotonous things can be there. Fight back by being among the first to pass MRCP Part 1 when you are a junior MO. Will contact you by direct email/sms.

Soon Hock's baby is probably due some time soon I would think. Any news anyone? Fab?

Sorry to see Lee Kien go... Kuala Pilah will be quieter than ever. Suffice to say I wouldn't have made it this far thru HOship if it weren't for him there. Feel like absconding sometimes...

Have purchased a new 21" Philips to break the boredom. Unfortunately can only receive 3 channels in KP.

Medical posting is really bad and will be worse now with a shortage of HOs. Keep myself afloat by thinking that the end of 1st year is near. 10 wks to go! Meanwhile have to go on battling severe exhaustion, sleep deprivation, weight loss and sugar addiction.

Have developed a gastric ulcer. Am starting Losec this week if my hospital is not too cheap to approve a 2-6 wk course.

Am renting the whole house now by myself in KP. Nice place just nice for 1-2 persons in a nice neighbourhood. However in the past 9 months have encountered all kinds of resident fauna including termites, spiders, centipedes, lots and lots of ants, a snake and a mouse. 2 months ago the electricity got shut off for one whole night when LK wuz in S'ban left me in total darkness with only my hp as a light source... would have gone insane if were still in my darkness-fearing younger years.

Am rambling think am developing Adeline syndrome. Where is that cow anyway not heard from her in millenia

Irritating Tony is basking in freedom in that horrible posting that is O&G. 32 HOs and they practically are jobless. All other departments are relatively short. It's coming to the point where whenever you go to canteen there's bound to be some jobless O&G fella there.

Today was my last day in Kuala Pilah. Sorry to leave Alan alone there. There will be shortage of housemen there, and it is probably going to be really busy.

I guess all of us are in the same situation- not having enough housemen towards the end of this posting. Sometimes I wonder where all those Ukrainian, Indian, Indonesian and Middle East graduates are. Looks like we will not get new recruits until the local uni grads come out.

Yeah, Lee kien. We heard the news. What a pity you can't come to O&G. Chee Foo and I are suffering here. This is the first time I'm back home since starting my O&G posting. There's only 12 HO in O&G now. We are doing EOD calls like crazy. Before this we have 5 HO on call a day. We had to revise it to 4 so that none of us will collapse. And there's still 3 months left! New people won't be coming in so soon. We don't have time to learn anything as we are just focused on getting our work done. And yet some of the specialists are not understanding at all.
Anyway, you'll learn a lot in medicine. They're short of people too but the working environment is not so stressful. By the way, where are you going to stay?

Effective April 1st, I am transferred to Hospital Alor Setar. I will continue Medical posting there. Seow Voon and I will be switching phone numbers. I will be using 012-6361850 and Seow Voon will be using 012-4103274.
